Retrospect 2025

The past 365 days certainly didn’t disappoint when it came to momentum and challenges. As we finally find the time to scroll back through the moments that defined the year at Brick, a few weeks into January, it becomes obvious why this recap took a little longer to arrive. With so much happening, we can’t help but feel proud to still be moving full speed ahead in our craft.

As the year unfolded, so did a wide range of milestones we’re proud of. From international awards and recognitions to expanding our footprint in the Middle East, from cinematic animation productions to refined interior projects, and from brand visuals to the rewarding moments of watching many of our visuals turn into built reality – 2025 was rich in moments worth revisiting. Add to that our role in hosting D2’s first Budapest gathering, and together, these moments form a snapshot of a year defined by trust, progress and collaboration.

Awards & Recognitions

Among the most rewarding affirmations of our work are the awards and professional recognitions received throughout the year. While Brick Visual has taken part in Architizer’s A+ Awards on several occasions before, this year’s win felt especially meaningful. Our animation for BIG’s Gelephu Mindfulness City received top honors in the final year of Architizer’s Models & Rendering category, making the recognition all the more memorable as the category has since been retired.

As that chapter closed, Architizer’s Vision Awards emerged as a new and exciting platform for architectural visualization, where we were proud to leave our mark as well. Over the course of the year, we received one win and three finalist nominations across both still images and animations. Besides these, a particularly special highlight was our contribution to ODA Architecture’s Jury Winner in the Vision for Vertical Living category.

Later in the year, our animation for the National Museum of Archaeology in Rabat, Morocco was recognized as Best Commissioned Work. We were also proud to see individual Brick artists celebrated at the CAD’oro Awards, where Nicolò Garonzi and Torkuma Shija earned first and second place respectively in the non-commissioned animation category.

Beyond formal accolades, some of the most gratifying moments come from seeing our visuals help win architectural competitions – such as Zaha Hadid Architects’ Napoli Porta Est or Kengo Kuma & Associates’ Ibsen Library in Norway – reminding us that strong visualization can play a meaningful role long before a project breaks ground.

From Visuals to Reality

Awards are one thing, but seeing our images turn into built reality is another kind of satisfaction altogether. Over the past year, several projects we visualized years ago have begun to take shape, and the following images capture those moments where imagination meets construction.

Motion, Story, Atmosphere

Animation has been part of Brick Visual’s DNA from the very beginning, and 2025 was no exception. If anything, this year confirmed how naturally cinematic storytelling has become part of our visual language. Among the standout collaborations was our work with Tadao Ando, bringing his vision for Al Futtaim Group’s Dubai Museum of Art to life through carefully paced, atmospheric motion and music.

In the same city, we translated our refined still imagery into dynamic narratives for OMNIYAT’s Lumena towers, while our collaboration with BRABUS offered a bold, high-energy take on luxury real estate in Abu Dhabi, blending architectural storytelling with the brand’s unmistakable design language.

Beyond scale and spectacle, several projects pushed us toward more emotive, mood-driven filmmaking. Our award-winning short film for the National Museum of Archaeology in Rabat focused on atmosphere as much as form, much like our animated interpretation of Crate&Barrel’s White Lotus–inspired interior collection. Rounding out the year, a playful new animatic style shaped our work for the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta, celebrating the airline’s 100th anniversary through a colorful journey across global destinations.

Visualizing a Region in Transformation

As our visuals increasingly moved from screens to construction sites, the Middle East remained a defining focus of the year – particularly Saudi Arabia, where we’ve spent nearly a decade contributing to projects at every scale. From Vision 2030 mega-developments to community-focused environments, our work in the Kingdom reflects a long-term commitment to shaping cities that balance ambition with cultural identity and everyday life. What makes these collaborations especially meaningful is the uniquely personal, locally rooted way projects are developed in Saudi Arabia, working closely with native architects and developers, shaped by trust, tradition, and direct human connection – an experience we’re genuinely proud to be part of. Witnessing concepts evolve into built reality – most notably at Qiddiya and across NEOM-related projects – has been both humbling and creatively energizing.

  • BRABUS Island

Alongside our deep-rooted presence in Saudi Arabia, the UAE continued to be an equally dynamic and inspiring arena for Brick Visual in 2025. In Dubai and Abu Dhabi, our collaborations often unfold within highly international teams and fast-moving development cycles, an environment where clarity, precision, and visual impact are paramount. This year, we were proud to contribute visuals to landmark projects for Omniyat, Al Ghurair, and Al Futtaim Group, as well as to distinctive collaborations such as BRABUS’ bold real estate venture in Abu Dhabi, and Tadao Ando’s Dubai Museum of Art, developed for Al Futtaim. Working across these two markets, Saudi Arabia’s deeply personal, culturally embedded approach and the UAE’s global, brand-driven momentum, continues to sharpen our perspective and fuel our excitement for what’s still to come.

Welcoming D2 Home to Budapest

Last year marked a special milestone for us at Brick Visual, as we had the pleasure of welcoming the D2 Conference to our hometown of Budapest for the very first time. After more than a decade in Vienna, the move brought a fresh rhythm to the event, hosted at the iconic Budapest Jazz Club, a venue whose creative energy and improvisational spirit felt perfectly aligned with the world of architectural visualization.

Over two inspiring days, D2 Budapest became a vibrant meeting point for the global archviz community, featuring insightful talks, live challenges, the international expansion of the CAD’oro animation awards, and the many informal moments that make the conference truly special. For us, it was especially rewarding to see the D2 Challenges and judging sessions unfold live, and to help create an environment where ideas, craft, and conversation could thrive.

Welcoming so many artists, speakers, and partners to the city was a genuine highlight, and following the success of this first Budapest edition, we’re excited to say that D2 will return again this year. We’re already looking forward to opening the doors once more and bringing the community back together where pixels, people, and inspiration meet.

A Shared Future

Beyond projects, awards, and milestones, 2025 also marked a defining moment for Brick Visual itself. Through a Management Buy-Out, Brick’s leadership – together with 20 of our colleagues – became the primary owners of the studio we build every day, turning shared values, responsibility, and long-term commitment into true ownership.

This collective step has strengthened our sense of pride, trust, and direction, and as we look ahead to 2026, we do so energized, united, and ready for the challenges and opportunities the year will bring.
